The Grand Bazaar opened in 1461. The Kapalıçarşı — the covered market — has been continuously trading since. Sixteen centuries of luxury knowledge are stored in the corridors of Beyazıt, in the practice of the goldsmiths in Cevahir Bedesteni, in the way an Istanbul merchant tests a coin.
To open a luxury house in Istanbul today is to inherit a literacy that does not exist in Mayfair, in Place Vendôme, in Madison Avenue. Istanbul knows what Mayfair has occasionally forgotten: that luxury is conversation. The merchant explains. The buyer asks. Both are educated by the exchange.
What this means for Certifié Luxe
We took our first floor space on Etiler not because the rents are lower than Mayfair (they are not, much) but because the address is honest about what we do. We authenticate. We narrate. We sell, yes, but slowly, with attention.
The Mayfair address followed because the conversation we are joining is older than any of us. The Dubai atelier, when it opens, will follow because the Gulf is where this conversation is most alive in 2026.
